Every parade tells a story of discipline, excellence, commitment and faith. Explore decades of inspections, competitions and unforgettable Brigade moments.
This gallery showcases the parade and drill activities of the 5th and 9th Surulere Companies of The Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade Nigeria. It captures members during marching practice, squad formations, command exercises, ceremonial parades, inspections and other structured activities that form an important part of Brigade training. Parade and drills are designed to develop much more than the ability to march correctly. Through regular practice, members learn discipline, attentiveness, coordination and the importance of responding accurately to instructions. Every movement requires concentration, timing and cooperation, helping members understand that individual effort contributes to the success and appearance of the entire team. The activities shown in this gallery also help members build confidence and self-control. Standing before others, carrying out commands and maintaining composure during training or public events encourage members to become more confident, responsible and prepared. As they progress, they learn how to remain focused, correct mistakes and improve through patience and consistent practice. Teamwork is at the centre of every parade and drill session. Members must move together, maintain proper spacing and support one another to achieve a coordinated formation. This teaches them that unity is built through communication, commitment and respect for shared responsibilities. Parade training also creates opportunities for leadership development. Senior members, non-commissioned officers and officers may guide squads, give commands, correct formations and help younger members understand the required standards. These responsibilities strengthen communication, decision-making and the ability to lead with fairness, clarity and patience. The gallery also reflects the pride and responsibility that come with representing the Brigade during church services, enrolment ceremonies, anniversary celebrations, competitions, community programmes and other official occasions. Members are encouraged to maintain good appearance, proper conduct and respect for the uniform, the organisation and the people they serve. Beyond the formal movements, each photograph captures the effort, preparation and determination behind every successful parade. It shows members learning to work together, remain committed and carry themselves with discipline both during Brigade activities and in everyday life. Explore this gallery to see how parade and drills continue to shape confident, disciplined and responsible young people who are prepared to serve, lead and represent the Brigade with honour.
